Fishing on the Broomholm Estate

The property has 1 1/2 miles of single bank fishing which is divided into two beats with seven named pools on each beat.  The upper beat is attractively wooded and includes an island with a connecting wrought iron bridge.  The lower beat is more open.  Fishing tenants alternate daily between the two beats and can fish up to three rods.  The banks and access points are well maintained and there is a fishing hut on the lower beat.

The Border Esk is a well known sea trout river with a complementary run of salmon later in the year.  The river rises in the Eskdale Hills above Langholm and flows into the Solway Firth.  The salmon season is February 1st to October 31st and the sea trout season is from May 1st to September 30th.  June, July and August are the best months for sea trout while the majority of salmon are caught in September and October.
